Goldfish – @GoldFishLive
The secret is officially out.
An electronic duo from the Southern-most tip of Africa have gone from one of Dance Music’s best kept secrets to one of the most sought-after acts in the music industry. Issuing forth from the same rich vein of electronic bands that contains the likes of Groove Armada, Basement Jaxx, Soul II Soul, Leftfield and Massive Attack, South African duo Goldfish Live are creating expansive, enveloping, sumptuously funk-filled music for new and older generations alike.
From their beginnings as music students surfing and chilling on the beaches of coastal Cape Town, Dominic Peters and David Poole have gone on to become one of the most original production teams in recent history, creating award-winning albums and developing a live DJ show that blends recorded sound with live percussion, string, woodwind and brass, blowing through all genres and surpassing all expectations.
Catch the SAMA winners at this year’s Gauteng SANSUI Summer Cup on the Sound Experience stage.
Mi Casa- @MiCasaMusic
Becoming a household name within months of releasing your first single is not something that happens every day in South Africa – especially in the dance market. But when Mi Casa released ‘These Streets’ to national radio at the end of 2010 their lives would change forever.
Talking with lead vocalist J’ Something about it now, the singer just shakes his head in disbelief and counts his blessings. A few years later, Mi Casa is without a doubt, one of the hottest acts to emerge from the South African dance market. What J’ Something still marvels at is the sheer coincidence and improbability of the groups emergence – seeing it almost like his destiny, as nothing else can explain why and how those three musicians landed up being in the same place, at the same time, with such incredibly strong musical chemistry.
Everyone knows the story of the three young guys that were lumped together at a rooftop party at the end of 2010 to freestyle on stage into what became a historical performance. The spark witnessed between the three was tangible and they walked off stage instantly knowing this was the future of dance music.
Having just come off a world tour and with a new album about to be dropped, Mi Casa are gearing up for a busy few months to end off 2015. Catch them live at this year’s Gauteng SANSUI Summer Cup.
Muzart – @MuZart_Music
The fuse has been lit and there’s no turning back, Muzart have exploded onto the scene with their energetic and artistic arrangements. This trio, made up of Rori, Vic and Tazzy, turns every listener into a fan with their playful, expertly executed rhythms and riveting performances.
Their sensational self-titled debut album ‘Muzart’ released in 2013 and is still doing exceptionally well, with their latest single, “Oh Yeah” currently on 5FM’s Top 40 Chart at #23 and previously at #1 on the Heart FM Top 10 Local Chart!
In addition to gigs such as the launch of Facebook Africa, the DStv Delicious Festival, their peers and the industry alike have also praised the trio, with several award nominations including Best Soul Album and Best Newcomers at the South African Music Awards, as well as a Best Group nomination at the Metro FM Music Awards. Catch them live in the Sound Experience at this year’s Gauteng SANSUI Summer Cup.
GoodLuck – @
Since the release of their self-titled debut album in April 2011, GoodLuck have taken the charts by storm as the explosive electro-swing act, which claimed the number one position in chart-topping singles off a debut album in the history of South African Music. With six number one hits; including Taking it Easy, Harlem, Hop on Hop off, four international tours and over 350 live shows already behind their name, GoodLuck are making waves beyond boarders.
Started as a passion project for producer Ben Peters, after teaming up with singer and songwriter, Juliet Harding, GoodLuck first found fame playing weekly residencies at Karma, which subsequently grew their fan base and led to them opening for internationally acclaimed DJs, Paul Oakenfold and Basement Jaxx. The invitation to headline the Fontys stage at the Festival Mundial in The Netherlands was also highlight for the group in 2012. GoodLuck returned to Europe for a three month summer tour in 2013 and 2014 which included some exciting performances in The Netherlands including Extrema and Solar Festivals and the European and UK Tour of the Holi One Festivals.
With extensive knowledge and appreciation for the music industry, GoodLuck were nominated for three South African Music Awards, including ‘Best Dance Album’, ‘Best Duo/Group’ and the coveted, ‘Record of the Year’.
